Description
I spend a lot of time walking in the woods and looking at the ground which made me want to make something that captured the tiny, amazing world on the forest floor- lichens, mosses and mushrooms. The brass background makes a warm contrast to the silver, highlighting the scene.
Each piece of texture is made, one-at-a-time, by carving the silver while it is red hot, just before it turns into a puddle. It is a delicate operation, I have to control the temperature carefully with my torch, but the results look more natural than any other process I’ve tried. Every mushroom is unique, every piece of moss is what it is.
They are powder coated to keep them from tarnishing, so they won’t need any upkeep.
They hang 2 1/8″ long by 1 3/8″ wide with a nickle-free steel wire that clips into the back.
